Another party with 1000 of your closest friends, colleagues and customers!

Howdy Podnuhs!

Many thanks to Mitch (aka Flashman) at MDI Video for the great photos from this year's 2009 HLS&R World Championship Bar-B-Que Cookoff.

As you all know, there was The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...well...that is just the way things are!

The photos are in and posted. Hopefully you didn't do anything you didn't want to get caught doing in a photo...if you did...umm...we're real sorry and we'll miss you next year!

Thanks to everyone who came and had a good time - and even those of you who came and didn't have a good time...well...you know who you are and despite the fact that it is just the way things are - there is a support network here - while this is just a suggestion - you should pay particular attention to #1, #3, #7, #10, #7, #7, #7, #7, #7 and finally #10 (disclaimer-this is not legal advice - duh, that is what Lawyers are for amongst other things).

Enjoy the photos, and please leave comments if you like - we always love that.

Many thanks to our sponsors, friends, family and our great team - but special thanks to our Trail Boss for keeping his horse out in front and leading this bunch of Wild West Cookers!

Until we meet again...Happy Trails (well mostly).

This little piggie went to market, this little piggie went to market, this little piggie went to market..."Cowgirl Princess"Proof that we actually cooked this year!

Some cowboys are so easy to please!"Something we always knew..."It was so magical this year...we even saw unicorns!

The Wild West Cookers!Build it and they will come...Jim!? Steve!? Oh My!!

You can see all the pictures here as long
as you are registered and logged in.

For cryin' out loud, don't forget to vote in the poll!!

HLS&R 2009 World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest

Well...that's just the way things are...

It appears that we all survived another one...well most of us anyway. This year things were unusually uneventful...except for that one thing - oh yeah, and that other thing - Ron knows what I mean.

Despite the fact that we did not insult anyone accidentally this year, some of our guests may still be in line for food - two things: 1) If you didn't get any BBQ on Saturday, it was because we ran out before you got to the serving trays. 2) As long as we don't change the layout, you can remain in line until next year and you'll be ahead of everyone else.

We hope everyone had a terrific time - even Greg! If you didn't have a good time, please take a moment to express yourself by voting in the poll above and we will make sure they work on it.

There were some great photos taken during those three days and I'm sure you're probably in one or two - so be sure to keep checking back often. We will post them in the gallery as soon as we get them back. If you have some of your own pictures, feel free to upload them in the gallery or send them to the webmaster and he will post them.

Kudos to the musical entertainment this year - what a great bunch from Wed. to Sat. - we really had a great time with them! Be sure and show your appreciation and drop them a note - their links are on the calendar.

For you smokers, we're sorry that we only had a "one at a time" smoking area this year; if we round up more sponsors, we'll add a "two at a time" area next year.

Happy Trails!

If you have any other questions...well...the answer is: That's just the way things are!

2009 Trail Ride Kick Off

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the team during the 2009 Trail Ride Kickoff in Bellville. About 85 or so riders came out this weekend and braved the weather and had a fantastic time. There was good food, good friends and good music all weekend.

Princess and Mike and the bestest hosts ever! We prepared dinner Friday night and breakfast lunch and dinner for Saturday and then breakfast and lunch on Sunday. There were warm camp fires, lots of cowboy stories...and some of them might even have been true.

This group of rough and rugged riders makes even the slickest city slicker want to slip on boots, strap on some chaps and saddle up.

At the end of the day today, it appeared that everyone had a great time...even the horses.

Happy Trails!

It's All Good!!

Well another year passed and another year we managed to keep our names off the top 100 - go team!! However, it would appear that we managed to throw the best party once again! As you can see, there was no shortage of smiling faces - can't figure out if it was the BBQ or if it was the sheer Wild West hospitality...

The weather was fantastic all three days and even managed to hold out past tear-down.

The first round of pictures will be up this evening and the remainder of pictures will trickle in over the next couple of weeks. If you have any pictures or if you want to publish an article, feel free to submit either.

Many thanks to our fantastic sponsors and we all look forward to next year in Houston!

Please come back often to see new articles and pictures.

...and remember: It's All Good!

As the pictures get uploaded, they can be found in the gallery See all the pictures here: 2008 HLS&R World Championship Bar-B-Que Cookoff

The ole girl gets a face lift!

Well, the ole girl finished up getting her face lift. The old girl you say? Yes, the pit. She was quite contrary and needed a good whipping...into shape. After six full weekends, 4500 lbs. of blasting sand, four gallons of paint...some wood and some sweet talk and TLC she looks like new...right down to the new custom oak "WWC" engraved door handles and cedar plank fence.

You're in store for a treat. The pit was blasted down to the metal and repainted with six coats of high-temp paint. The entire trailer had the metal repainted. The floor was painted with non-stick oil based paint. A new cedar fence was installed around the prep area of the pit, the wood counters were routed round and polyurethaned. A handle was put on the back gate, new downspout pipes were cut to size and installed under the grease drain ball valves. The barrel doors had bigger bars installed and custom oak handles - new oak handles and brass bolts were installed on the tower doors. The tail lights had some new wiring done to give a solid ground (and they were tested). The hole in the front barrel was welded closed (this is no excuse Reggie!). And last but not least, the inside of the pit was completely cleaned (some ten or twenty gallons of grease, carbon, sand and part of Reggie's brickset {spelling intentional} from last year was removed)...I am sure that there were other items that were done but not noted, but that is the major stuff.

A big thanks to Mel who stuck it out with me for most of the job...honorable mentions to Mike and Princess for putting up with me and the mess I made...and to Mitch, Jim, Dava and Marty who came out and helped when they could. Also thanks to Rueben (aka Piss Ant) for doing a super pro welding job on the hole and welding a roof support for us. For some reason, we also had this jackass hanging around every time I was out in Bellville working on the pit.

You can see all the pictures in the phone gallery. Click here: 2008 A Pit Raising - Again!

I hope everyone enjoys the "new" look as a great deal of time and effort went into making this happen.

If anyone sees it and thinks something should have been done a different way or if they don't like the way part of it came out, please feel free to...
